León Viejo Près du cône parfait du volcan Momotombo se trouvent les ruines de l'ancienne ville de León. Construite trop près du volcan, l'ancienne capitale du Nicaragua, León Viejo, fut ensevelie en 1625 sous des couches de cendre volcaniques. Les ruines de León Viejo font partie du Patrimoine Mondial de l'UNESCO.
