Place de la Concorde
This is one of the largest square in Paris. Not one of the quietest as heavy traffic circles the central where the Egyptian obelisk is standing. On foot, you should definetely wait for traffic lights before crossing the broad ring road to access the central part!
It was build between 1755 and 1775 during Louis XV reign. Number of historical events took place here including the execution of Louis XVI.
At the end of the street behind the obelisk (Rue Royale) the Madeleine church can be seen. On the oposite direction is the Palais-Bourbon where the Assemblée Nationale is located.
