Lago Pátzcuaro - Michoacan (Mexico) Pátzcuaro is a beautiful colonial city that is located in the center of some of México's most picturesque countryside. The town sits in the hills above the shores of Lago Pátzcuaro. The lake main island is Isla Janitzio, a 20 mn boat ride from town. You can't miss the 40 m statue of the local hero José María Morelos on the summit of the island. A viewing balcony in the fist of the statue offers nice views of the lake.
